How to Get An Ecuadorian Driver's License
Gringo Visas can help you get an Ecuadorian driver’s license. Tourists and temporary visitors are allowed to drive for 30 days in Ecuador on a valid U.S., or Canadian driver’s license and a passport showing the entry date stamp. However, if you are moving to Ecuador, permanent residents with a visa need to apply for an Ecuadorian driver’s license.
We have made driving with a valid Ecuadorian driver’s license a three-step process.
Driver History
Obtain your driving record from the state or province where you currently hold a valid license. Some states allow you to download your driving record online, while others will mail it to the address on your license. Gringo Visas can get your driving record apostilled for you in the U.S., and translated and notarized in Ecuador.
Driver License Requirements
You will need your cedula number, original copy of your passport and resident visa, and driving record apostilled in the U.S., and the translation notarized in Ecuador. We will assist you in completing the application form in Spanish and accompany you during the necessary blood test, physical, eyesight and hearing examinations, which must be completed for the required documentation.
Driver Written Test
The third and final step is a written test. We will assist you in obtaining an approved written driving test––general driving knowledge. We have prepared questions and answers in both English and Spanish to help you study for this test. We will also accompany you and be your translator in Giron, where the test takes place, about 45-minutes from Cuenca.
